Solar Energy

Solar energy is the radiant light and heat from the Sun that has been harnessed by mankind since ancient times. Sun was worshiped in many ancient cultures as the god and the ultimate source of energy.
Sun god “Surya” has been a popular deity in India since Vedic period. Sun god is regarded as the supreme lord of the universe and the prime source of life giving energy.

 

तरणिर्विश्वदर्शतो ज्योतिष्क्र्दसि सूर्य |
विश्वमा भासिरोचनम ||

(Rigveda 1-50-4)
The one who observes the Universe, you are the savior and you present light. You illuminate all the radiant objects.

 

उद वयं तमसस परि ज्योतिष पश्यन्त उत्तरम |
देवं देवत्रा सूर्यमगन्म ज्योतिरुत्तमम ||

(Rigveda 1-50-10)
Looking upon the loftier light above the darkness we have come to the Sun, god among the gods, the light that is most excellent.

In Vedic text, the sun is represented as moving daily across the sky in a golden chariot drawn by seven white horses. The magnificent Sun Temple at Konark, one of the most stunning monuments in the world carries the sun god, across the sky in a chariot.

pantheonPantheon in Rome is an architectural splendor of the Roman times. At the top of the dome is a large opening, the oculus, which is the only source of light. Throughout the day, the light from the oculus moves around this space in a sort of reverse sundial effect. The oculus also serves as a cooling and ventilation method.
